16th District: Dady rallies to Dem nomination and date against Kinzinger

Sara Dady overcame an early deficit to overtake Neill Mohammad to open a convincing lead with most votes counted in the 16th District Democratic primary for Congress.

Dady had 40 percent of the vote with about 85 percent of the vote counted. Mohammad had 21 percent and second place in the four-candidate field.

Dady will face incumbent Republican Adam Kinzinger in November in what’s considered by analysts as a solid GOP district. Kinzinger, who had 68 percent of the Republican primary vote, was unopposed in 2016 and earned 71 percent of the vote in 2014.

Prior to the 2016 presidential election  Kinzinger said he was not a supporter of President Donald Trump. But he has voted with the president’s position 98 percent of the time.
