Look forever young with our Beauty Lab Seal picks for skin and hair.

Super Serum

Mary Kay TimeWise Tone Correcting Serum ($45, marykay.com): Mary Kay’s formula helps brighten skin and reduce signs of past damage, like dark spots. Apply it between cleansing and moisturizing, and don’t forget your neck.

Tester notes: Women appreciated that it was fragrance-free and lightweight, and they even said they’d buy it again for themselves!

Lab lowdown: Our chemists like that it’s noncomedogenic (meaning it won’t clog pores), so it works for any skin type.

Strand Saver

L’Oreal Paris Total Repair 5 Damage-Erasing Balm ($7): No, you’re not imagining it: Hair does thin with age — and heat styling, color processing and chemical treatments can be especially damaging. L’Oreal’s balm works as a super-concentrated conditioner to nourish and protect.

Tester notes: Consumers loved how easy the formula was to apply and that it left their hair feeling softer and more manageable. “After I wasted a lot of money on rinses and conditioners, this has made my hair feel the best,” said one tester.

Lab lowdown: In our evaluations, it conditioned strands to help repair signs of damage (split ends, rough texture, dull appearance) and prevent future issues.

Eye Refresher

Olay ProX Eye Restoration Complex ($40): Olay’s restorative eye treatment is a Beauty Lab go-to. In our testing it was the most moisturizing, and it got high marks from consumers for reducing puffiness. Add it to both your morning and evening skincare routines.

Tester notes: Consumers raved about the creamy, non-irritating formula, which went on smoothly and soothed skin instantly.

Lab lowdown: Beating out nine other tested brands, this cream visibly reduced undereye fine lines and crow’s feet. Our experts were so impressed, they gave it a GH Anti-Aging Award!

ON ANOTHER MATTER …

Say “Amen” to Good Health

Get thee to church … or synagogue, temple or mosque! Attending services can help you delay meeting your maker. There’s a new reason to feel blessed: Women who attend weekly religious services have a 26 percent lower mortality risk than those who never visit a house of worship, found a Harvard study published in JAMA Internal Medicine. Researchers say participating in a communal religious experience provides social support, encourages healthier habits, lowers depressive symptoms and promotes a positive outlook, all of which contribute to better health. Not observant? While it is not entirely clear whether a yoga class or a moms’ group also could lead to a longer life, says study author Tyler VanderWeele, Ph.D., social groups that have “a shared sense of meaning and healthy behavioral norms would likely have a larger effect on mortality than, say, a bingo night.”

TABLE

Triple-Duty Transformer

This day cream from Neutrogena is a must-have for multitaskers.

Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ($21): Neutrogena’s Wrinkle Repair topped our Lab’s day cream test. It quenches dry skin and, with SPF 30, offers comprehensive protection from the sun’s rays.

Tester notes: Testers liked that it absorbed quickly, didn’t irritate (even with retinol, which can bother sensitive skin) and had little scent. One said, “Hands down, the best wrinkle cream I’ve tried!”

Lab lowdown: Our tests found that it firmed and moisturized, evened tone and could smooth fine lines over time.

PRODUCT/VEHICLE

PROBLEM

Halloween LED gel clings, sold exclusively at Target stores nationwide from August 2016 through September 2016 for about $1.

The gel clings can separate and expose the inner decal and LED/button battery compartment, posing choking and button battery ingestion hazards to children. Consumers should immediately remove the recalled gel clings from areas with children and return them to any Target store for a full refund. For more information, contact Target at (800) 440-0680 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. CT Monday through Sunday, or online at www.Target.com. Click on “School/Stationery/Seasonal” on the “Product Recalls” page for more information, or visit the “Product Recalls” tab on Target’s Facebook page.

2017 Audi Q7

In the affected vehicles, the third-row seat back may move forward under load, such as in a frontal collision. As such, the vehicles do not conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 207, “Seating Systems.” If the third-row seat does not remain in its adjusted position, there may be an increased risk of injury to an occupant in the event of a crash. Audi will notify owners, and dealers will install an additional support bracket to the seat for free. The recall began in October 2016. Owners may contact Audi customer service at (800) 253-2834. Volkswagen’s number for this recall is 72F8.
