EUREKA – It is nearly time for the Woodford County Master Gardener Plant Sale at Eureka Public Library. Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 17 when you can stock up for spring with garden favorites like perennials, grasses, annuals and oddities and rarities. Also on hand will be master gardeners who will help solve any gardening problems.
All monies raised through the plant sale will go to Woodford County Master Gardener efforts: labeling the herbs at the Eureka County Courthouse; contributing to youth educational efforts; and running educational booths around the county.
The University of Illinois Extension will also be selling their insect identification cards: The Good Guys! Natural Enemies of Insects; The Bad Guys! Garden Pests; The Bad Guys II, Landscape Pests; and The Ugly Guys! Household Pests.
May 12 is our frost free date giving the gardeners full permission to start planting tender vegetable transplants, fruit trees, vegetable and herb seeds.
