Bright red geraniums were the theme, but St. Charles flower enthusiasts showcased all sorts of colorful blooms late last week — from placement in stationary concrete containers to overflowing hanging baskets — as judging commenced in the annual America in Bloom contest. The City was looking for another top finish after receiving Five Blooms — the highest ranking — from America in Bloom judges last year.
