Children’s China: Celebrating Culture, Character and Confucius portrays the present-day activities that Chinese families practice, as well as their roots in Confucius’ teachings. Read Confucius’ quotes, explore hands-on activities, use innovative technology and see authentic artifacts to gain an understanding of Confucius’ impact on modern Chinese life. Little Explorers: Turtles

Preschoolers, accompanied by an adult, will examine the nature center’s resident turtles to see their similarities and differences. Children will be able to hold and help feed the turtles. Registration and payment are required. Space is limited. Call (708) 361-1873.

The Evanston Public Library’s Book Sale has been called “The Best” by the Chicago Reader, because of high-volume and high-quality books that are donated. Books in excellent condition are for children, teens and adults in all categories of fiction and non-fiction. The proceeds of the sale support the collections and services of the library.

Frances Willard House, 1730 Chicago Ave., Evanston

Frances Willard was a 19th century women’s rights leader, social justice advocate and political activist. She was most well-known as the president of the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union, but her Do Everything agenda for social reform went beyond temperance to include women’s rights, social justice and world peace.
