Willow Springs

Police Dept. offers new program to help aid seniors

The village announced that the Willow Springs Police Department is partnering with the Willow Springs Seniors Club to introduce the S.A.F.E. (Senior Awareness For Everyone) program. This program allows the police department to maintain critical information in order to assist seniors (ages 60 and up) in need of police or medical assistance. Currently, when Willow Springs Police personnel are notified to check on the well-being of a senior and receive no response, they are committed to making contact and communicating with the resident. If all contact means are exhausted, forced entry may be required. Through the S.A.F.E. program, which provides police with emergency contact information/phone numbers and current medical history after participants fill out a S.A.F.E. form, police will have the ability to reach those listed on the form in order to determine the best possible response to the situation. The program also is open to any village resident who is mentally and/or physically challenged. S.A.F.E. program forms are available at the Willow Springs Police Department, 8255 Willow Springs Road; Village Hall, 1 Village Circle; and the Willow Springs Senior/Community Center, 89 Poston Road, as well as the village website (www.willowsprings-il.gov). For more information, call the police department at 708-839-2732.
