Buffalo Grove

Police Dept. announces start-up of online police reporting system

The village announced that the Buffalo Grove Police Department is now providing a new, online police reporting option for the public. The web-based reporting system allows the public to file certain incident types (including identity theft, lost driver’s license, lost property, harassing telephone calls, vacation house watch requests and more) via the internet. The service will allow the public to file a report without having to wait for an officer to respond or call back. Users of the service will be able to print a temporary copy of the report upon submission. The report will be reviewed by police personnel, and once it is approved, the filing party will receive an email with a copy of the report attached — at no cost. The report will then transfer into the police department’s record management system, and receive the same investigation and statistical analysis as if it had been filed by a police officer. The police department will be using the Desk Officer Online Reporting System, produced by California-based software company Coplogic, Inc. (www.coplogic.com). To file a report, and for more information, visit www.vbg.org — or call (847) 459-2500.
