The homer opener was never more special at Wrigley Field than this year when fans got to see their World Series champion Chicago Cubs take the field since that historic game 7 win on Nov. 2, 2016.

Fans gathered outside the ballpark and Wrigleyville early Monday, April 10 to begin the celebration in anticipation of the game later that evening and the ceremonies beforehand, including the raising of the World Series championship banner.

The day was an emotional celebration for a fanbase that waited 108 years to see that banner flying high.
