Selected stores, restaurants and services in Aurora and other communities were shut down last Thursday  as part of a “Day Without Immigrants” event. Advocates of the nationwide shutdown sought to draw attention to the impact of immigrants to the economy and society. Marches and gatherings were all held in Chicago, Washington, D.C., and other cities to also protest the new Trump Administration’s crackdown in immigration.
