Book Recycling and Donation Drop-off

Free

The Sycamore Library will accept large donations of new and used books and other materials at the Circulation Desk. Also, books in need of recycling may be dropped off. Items donated may be added to the library’s annual book sale, which supports youth and teen programming at the library. To make a donation at a different time, call (815) 895-2500.

 

Sandwich Farmers’ Market

Gardeners, farmers, crafters and honey makers will be among the vendors selling their goods.

 

Football Family Fun Day

After watching the Huskies practice, fans are invited onto the field to meet the team, get autographs and mingle with the coaches, staff and players in the north end zone. The NIU Bounce House and inflatable games will be set up in the end zone. Purchase concession items, pick up 2017 posters and see the Jacoby Trophy, recognizing NIU as the top women’s athletics program in the Mid-American Conference.

DHS Class of 1992’s 25th Class reunion

$10 per person at the door

All classmates from DeKalb High School’s class of 1992 are invited. The ticket includes appetizers and cash bar. A silent auction will feature a painting by classmate Rudy Galindo. The proceeds will be donated to charity. RSVP at dekalbhsclassof92.myevent.com.

Local artists will display and sell their artwork in the Blumen gardens. Featured artists will include Peg Boehm, cards and prints from original watercolor artwork; Jaimie Hill, pottery and ceramics; Christine Hoy-Miguel, handsewn items, drawings and watercolors; Dianne Macmillan, abstract animal portraits in acrylics; and Kelley Klaman-Ritsche, keychains, window chimes and jewelry.

 

 

Guided Walking Tour

NIU Community School of the Arts Music Lesson Registration Deadline

The NIU Community School of the Arts offers traditional private music lessons on nearly all instruments for children and adults. Music lessons using the Suzuki approach (combining private and group lessons) for young children are taught on violin, cello, piano and guitar.
