DeKalb County Day at NIU Season Opening Football Game

The NIU Huskies take on Boston College in the home opener, and it’s DeKalb County Day at the game. Residents living in one of 25 specific Zip codes can get tickets for $15. Call (815) 753-PACK by Aug 31.

Maple Park Fun Fest is a classic small-town festival over Labor Day weekend with live entertainment, an arts and crafts show, car show, beer garden, 5K fun run, bags tournament, parade, children’s activities, men’s slo-pitch softball tournament and other activities. Opening Reception for “Quilts and Human Rights”

“Quilts and Human Rights” features quilts from around the world honoring champions of human rights and documenting quilt making as a means of coping with oppression and examining how quilts raise awareness of global social issues. Originally curated at the Michigan State University, the Pick Museum staff has expanded the exhibit by adding 15 quilts made between 2008 and today highlighting the last decade’s booming modern quilting movement. Fall Film Series: Tim Burton
