The Green Lens Environmental Film Series

This week’s film is “Cowspiracy,” a controversial and provocative 2014 documentary that argues animal agriculture has much to do with pollution worldwide. Director Kip Anderson seeks to find the solution to the most pressing environmental issues and the true path to sustainability.

Genealogy for the Very Beginner

This hands-on workshop to teach how to start using Ancestry Library Edition to track down ancestors. Ways to organize information will be explained. Users must have basic knowledge of computers, including keyboard and mouse skills. Seating is limited. Overflow patrons will be able to observe, but not participate. Walk & Roll for Mobility

8:30 a.m.

Creative Therapeutics, 400 E. Hillcrest Drive, DeKalb

$5 individual; $10 family

Walk, ride or roll along the DeKalb Nature Trail. Enjoy live music and refreshments, and walk round-trip or one-way. Rotary’s Trucktoberfest

$5 individual, $20 family

This inaugural event will feature a variety of food trucks and children’s activities. Proceeds will support the club’s annual community grants for children, youth and families in DeKalb County. There will be an additional $5 fee to enter the Beer Garden/Wine Tasting inside Faranda’s, where adults may sample products from local distilleries and vineyards. These funds will go to DeKalb County Youth Service Bureau and DeKalb County Community Gardens. Mighty Makers Build an Instrument

Mighty Makers, a group of elementary students who love to create, will make stringed musical instruments. They will learn about sound waves, vibration and pitch as they design and build their own instruments. The library will provide the supplies. Recommended for children ages 6 to 11, space is limited to 20 participants. Registration will begin 15 minutes before the start of the program.
