The DeKalb Farmers Market features more than 30 vendors offering locally-grown produce, wine, baked goods, flowers and artisan crafts.

 

“LEGO Batman”

Enjoy some popcorn and watch a movie full of LEGO action and humor. In “LEGO Batman,” big changes are brewing in Gotham City, and a cooler-than-ever Bruce Wayne must deal with the Joker and his cohorts as they plan to rule Gotham. Meanwhile, he discovers he has accidentally adopted a teenage orphan who wishes to become his sidekick.

Get Excited About Science

Using dramatic demonstrations, humor, music, and audience participation, Steve Belliveau explores basic ideas about various scientific concepts in this program, a blend of teaching and entertainment that will be talked about long afterward!

Sip, Shop, Socialize

A number of local businesses will participate in the event that will include sidewalk sales and new inventory. A new event feature will be a 50/50 raffle to support Elder Care of DeKalb. The Garage Orchestra will perform.

 

Friday Night Racing

Kayak and Canoe the Kish

9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Starts at Baseline Road, Genoa

Free

Sponsored by Kish Valley Wanderers, extended voyage pickup and shuttle service will be available on request. The kayak and canoe route is from Baseline Road to Carroll Memorial Park (approximately 2.5 hours). Participants can come to Carroll Memorial Park first and be shuttled to the drop off location at Baseline Road. A limited amount of canoes will be available upon request 48 hours before the event. Guided Walking Tour

308 W. State St. in City Center, Sycamore

Stephan Bigolin will lead a tour and tell stories behind the buildings located in the heart of downtown Sycamore. The tour will last about an hour. Attendees should wear comfortable shoes and bring water.

Museum Annual Meeting

The public is invited to join members of the Sycamore History Museum at the museum’s annual meeting. Brats and hot dogs will be served; guests are asked to bring a dish to share for this potluck dinner. Guided tours of the exhibit will be offered, and visitors will be encouraged to take a turn at panning for gold like Preston Jones did during his adventure to Alaska in the 1890s.
