The DeKalb High School Theater will present its spring musical “Ragtime.” Based on the novel of the same name by E.L. Doctrow, the play is a compelling epic capturing the American experience at the turn of the 20th century by tracking three diverse families in pursuit of the American dream in the volatile “melting pot” of turn-of-the-century New York. The DHS Theater is also hosting a Dinner & a Musical fundraiser at 5:30 p.m. before the May 6 performance.

Sycamore celebrates its 20th annual Cinco de Mayo celebration starting May 6 with an adults-only party with music, margaritas and a beer garden. A family festival will be held May 7 with children’s activities such as pony rides, petting zoo, pinatas, Mexican music and dancers, taco and quesadilla eating contests and a salsa competition. Glidden Homestead Opening Day – Open Barn

Tours of the Glidden Homestead historic site, blacksmith demonstrations and tours of the barn will be available on Opening Day, the only day the barn is open to the public.
