A new grant program will act as a catalyst to aid economic development for local municipalities and communities in DeKalb County.

The DeKalb County Community Foundation has created Community Economic Development Grants, that will provide an opportunity for communities in the county to apply for funding to support economic planning and projects.

Each of the 15 distinct communities as well as the unincorporated communities within DeKalb County are eligible to apply and receive grants. Grants will be for $20,000 over the life of the grant program, estimated to be in place through 2019.

Applications will be accepted during two grant periods each year and will be due by midnight on Oct. 1 and April 1.

For additional information about the grants, visit dekalbccf.org/grantprograms or contact Anita Zurbrugg at (815) 748-5383 or anita@dekalbccf.org.

The local walk is named in memory of Sondra King, a professor of food and nutrition at Northern Illinois University. She traveled around the world on mission trips related to world hunger.
