Northern Rehab Physical Therapy Specialists is collecting non-perishable food items to benefit food pantries that serve DeKalb, Sycamore, Genoa, Rochelle and Sandwich. Items most needed include canned meat (chicken, tuna), pasta, parmesan cheese, bread crumbs, dry goods, canned foods, rice, beans or any non-perishable items that have a long shelf life. Items may be dropped off at Northern Rehab’s DeKalb offices or their locations in Genoa, Rochelle or Sandwich. Fairy Tales for Adults

Ron Allison returns with a third installment of Fairy Tales for Adults. This time, he will explore a Scandinavian tale, “The Serpent Prince,” and Grimms’ “The Gnome.

Allison’s approach grew out of his love of European fairy tales and encounters with storytellers who opened up the possibilities of using fairy tales for self-examination among adult audiences. This program is intended for adults and the discussion following the story will be geared towards a more mature audience. No registration is required. Fiber artist Marilyn Hrymak will present Consumer Power for a Better World at the next meeting of 350Kishwaukee. Attendees will learn to find companies that are socially just – which companies are fair to employees, good to Mother Earth and animals, and don’t spend millions lobbying for favors. She will explain how shopping can be almost as important as voting.

The Best Picture Film Series

The Egyptian Theatre is holding its 2018 Best Picture Film Series through March 6, featuring Oscar Best Picture winning films from each decade. The next film in the series is “My Fair Lady.” In this 1964 film, a misogynistic and snobbish phonetics professor (Rex Harrison) agrees to a wager that he can take a flower girl (Audrey Hepburn) and make her presentable in high society.
