Great Souls Film Festival

The DeKalb Public Library and the Egyptian Theatre are presenting the Great Souls film series, a screening of three cultural movies throughout the spring. A panel discussion will be held in late spring to discuss the cultural beliefs and values represented in the films. The series begins with “Seven Years in Tibet,” a 1997 movie that tells, the true story of Heinrich Harrer, an Austrian mountain climber who became friends with the Dalai Lama at the time of China’s takeover of Tibet.

DeKalb Community Unit School District 428 will provide screenings for children ages birth to preschool. A screening will take about an hour and will include education, speech/language components, and vision and hearing. Appointments are required. To schedule one, call 815-754-2361.

Fish Fry

The menu includes beer-battered cod and haddock dishes, baked cod and shrimp plates, and children’s dishes such as chicken tenders and grilled cheese sandwiches.
