Coming Together Film Series

“Selma” will be shown. This historic drama chronicles the iconic march led by Martin Luther King from Selma to Montgomery, Ala. in 1965 championing voting rights. No registration is required.

 

Around the World Cuisine

The public is invited to enjoy food, music and a bike and car cruise night. The bands Kashmir will perform at 6:30 p.m. and Jack Russell’s Great White, at 7:30 p.m. The Addison Historical Museum will host an open house and craft fair from 6-8 p.m.

 

Summer Concert Series

6:30 p.m.

Cortesi Veterans Memorial Park, 318 E. Kenilworth, Villa Park

Free

Juke Box Band will perform a play list including modern pop, classic rock, blues, country and jazz. The band involves audiences with sing-alongs and group dances. Every show is different because the crowd picks the songs The concession stand will open at 6 p.m.

 

Aug. 25-26

 

15th annual Naperville Wine Festival

5-10 p.m.

Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster St., Naperville

Ticket prices range from $35 to $140; $15 for designated drivers

Sample from more than 250 wines from around the world and learn about new varietals. Seminars and cooking demonstrations will be conducted. Some of the area’s best restaurants and caterers will sell their signature dishes. Live music will be performed. New this year is the Bill Jacobs BMW Connoisseurs Club, which will allow exclusive access to specialty/high-end wines and food. This event will take place rain or shine. Shakespeare in the Park

Wheaton College Arena Theater and Wheaton Park District will present “Much Ado About Nothing,” considered to be one of Shakespeare’s greatest comedies. In case of rain, a performance will be given at 7 p.m. Aug. 27.

Elmhurst Art Museum, 150 Cottage Hill Ave., Elmhurst

$9 adults, $8 senior citizens, free students and children younger than 18

Create portraits with chocolate sauce, and then top off your masterpiece with an ice cream treat. This family workshop is inspired by the piece by Vik Muniz in the museum’s current exhibition, The Human Touch. Free with museum admission and for members. Cruise Night and Concert

Cruise Nights and Summer Concert Series provides live music, a large collection of classic, custom and collector cars, and food from local restaurants. 7DEEZ Band, an interactive dance band, will perform disco, funk and Motown hits, starting at 6:30 p.m. A free craft or game will be provided in the Kids’ Corner on south Park Avenue.

Regionally grown farm-fresh fruit and vegitables are for sale in this local outdoor marketplace. Products for sale include olives, cheeses and veggie burgers.

 

Beginner Line Dance Classes

Nature Rx: Forest Therapy Walk
