Elmhurst Tree Lighting

Join in the holiday spirit with the annual celebration in Wilder Park. Featuring holiday entertainment, a special visitor from the North Pole and children’s activities in Wilder Mansion, the tree lighting will add to the spirit of the season. Warm up with some cookies and hot cocoa. Get family, friends or a group together and decorate one of the 65 holiday trees around the park.

Climb aboard the Black Chicago Gravel Steam Locomotive #18 and head for the North Pole. Passengers of the historic 1922 steam locomotive will watch “The Polar Express” movie while enjoying hot chocolate, cookies and popcorn. Parents are urged to bring the kids in pajamas and to pack pillows. Purchase tickets by visiting the Bensenville Park District’s Deer Grove Leisure Center. Elmhurst Magnificent Mutts Holiday Party & Adoption Event

For an afternoon of holiday cheer, stop by the Elmhurst Animal Care Center. Bring the family, including your pets, for photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus! A $10 donation will go toward helping Magnificent Mutts Rescue. The event will showcase a variety of vendors from holiday crafts, fudge, jewelry and more. There will be drawings and refreshments. The 15th annual Holiday Show is produced by the Northern Illinois LEGO Train Club. Organizers say is the largest annual show in terms of display and attendance in DuPage County.

Kalapriya and Elmhurst College will commemorate the life of M. S. Subbulakshmi, the nightingale of India. Curated by Gowri Ramnarayan, M. S. Subbulakshmi’s student and protege, the performance will take you through the events that shaped her life and the world she occupied. Preceding each song, narrator Mridu Sekhar will depict the stories, relationships and historical events that brought the song into her life.
