The Elmhurst College Jazz Festival enters its 51st year with an all-star lineup of some of the greatest performing jazz artists, as well as some of the country’s best college bands. This year’s lineup of headliners includes the Maria Schneider Orchestra, trumpeter Sean Jones, trombonist Jiggs Whigham, drummer Matt Wilson and pianist/composer Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra. The menu includes baked tilapia, fried cod, peppers and eggs, fried chicken, chicken nuggets, oven-roasted potatoes, french fries, vegetables, rolls and butter and dessert.

Birdhouse Workshops

The Golden Dragon Acrobats represent a time-honored tradition that began more than 25 centuries ago. The Golden Dragons are recognized throughout the United States and abroad as the premiere Chinese acrobatic touring company. The focus of this meeting is to help area voters to know the candidates running in the March 20 primary. Most DuPage County Board candidates and a number of state representative and senators are expected to attend.

In “Sweet Bean,” a lonely, unhappy Japanese baker hires a 76-year-old woman to be his new assistant, and soon learns that she has a wonderful recipe for sweet red bean paste – which she claims comes from her communion with nature. However, their partnership is threatened when it’s revealed that the elderly woman is suffering from a severe illness. Shown in the original Japanese with English subtitles.
