For the second time ever in America, Beethoven’s five piano concertos will be performed together in a one-of-a-kind event April 7 and 8 at the McAninch Arts Center, College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn.

Beginning Birdwatching

Learn how to find birds, discuss equipment as well as what to wear on birding expeditions. This course will also help participants learn how to keep track of their observations. Participants will stroll around the arboretum to observe birds that inhabit Illinois and learn key bird features for identification and how to match birds to their preferred food or habitat.

Springtime Family Fun Day

Springtime Family Fun will begin with a showing of “The Peanuts Movie” rated G-at the York Theatre. Snoopy will be in the City Centre Plaza for pictures after the movie. A DJ will play music and there will be dancing and prizes in the plaza.

For the second time ever in America, Beethoven’s five piano concertos will be performed together in a one-of-a-kind event. Critically-acclaimed pianist Wael Farouk returns to take on the New Philharmonic Orchestra’s most challenging repertoire to date. Your ticket grants access to all three hours of music, as well as an array of German-themed desserts and drinks including apple strudel and bite-sized bundt cakes and authentic Bavarian pretzels. History Speaks: Mexican-American Boxcar Communities

Chicago’s pivotal role as railroad capitol of the U.S. is well known. The history of Mexicans who worked for Chicago area railroads and lived in railroad boxcars is largely unknown. These missing pages of American history exemplifies the contributions of Mexicans to the development of Chicago and the Midwest. Antonio Delgado, program presenter, became interested in the history of Mexicans in the United States after interviewing his grandmother in 1975. He has a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois in Urban Planning/Public Policy Analysis, specializing in public policy as it impacts minorities in the United States. Registration is suggested. Can Poetry Be Written After Auschwitz?

Jill Peláez Baumgaertner, a poet and emerita professor of English at Wheaton College, will read some of her poems. She wrote her first poem at age 16 after visiting Dachau, and ever since has immersed herself in the literature of the Holocaust. Baumgaertner has written several books of and about poetry.
