Parochial/Private High School Fair 

6-7:30 p.m. 

Immanuel Lutheran Church and School, 950 Hart Road, Batavia 

Free 

Parents will learn about the high school application process. Immediately following, parents and students will be able to visit with representatives of local parochial or private high schools. High schools currently planning to attend include: Aurora Christian Schools, Wheaton Academy, Aurora Central Catholic, Marmion Academy, Rosary High School and Elgin Academy.

“Ethical Intelligence: How We Can Be Stronger Leaders, Citizens and Friends”

Forbes columnist Bruce Weinstein writes about character, leadership and “ethical intelligence,” especially in the business world. Known as The Ethics Guy, Weinstein believes the key to professional and personal success is having not just emotional intelligence, but also ethical intelligence. Activities include Halloween games with prizes, airbrush tattoos, balloon artist, Trunk or Treat, It’s Bat-Tastic, Kidz Kingdom Craft and Trick or Treat Trail. A costume pageant with prizes will be held at 6 p.m.

VFW Fish Fry 

5:30-8 p.m. 

VFW Hall, 39 E. St. Charles Road, Villa Park 

Prices vary 

The Villa Park VFW serves up a fish fry every Friday. In addition to fried fish, the menu includes shrimp, Italian beef, hotdogs and chips and fries.

Family Night Out: Pumpkins & Treats 

5:30-7:30 p.m. 

Cantigny Park, 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton 

Free; $5 parking

Salt Creek Civil War Roundtable and Book Sale 

Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main St., Glen Ellyn

The book sale will begin at 6:30, followed by a special program featuring the music of the 1850s and 1860s at 8 p.m. Presenter Art Foley will speak about composer George F. Root who composed many of the classics associated with the 1850s and 1860s. Root was a popular song writer and was influenced by the Civil War. Call (630) 469-1867 for information.

Living Cemetery 

10 a.m.-12 p.m. 

Main Street Cemetery, on Main Street between Curtiss and Grove streets, Downers Grove 

Free 

The heart of Living Cemetery is a cast of costumed actors portraying figures of various ages and walks of life buried in the cemetery. As visitors tour the grounds they can gather around each figure to be told a bit of her or his life in old Downers Grove. The event is presented by the Downers Grove Historical Society

Haunted Halloween Flea Market 

3 p.m.-midnight 

DuPage County Fairgrounds, 2015 Manchester Road, Wheaton 

$7, children 12 and younger admitted free with an adult 

The Haunted Halloween Flea Market includes live music, artists, hay rides, costume contest, food and more. Vendors will sell many items including antiques, folk art and crafts, close-outs, shabby-chic, housewares, country farm, industrial, coins and collectibles.

Mozart the Middle Years 

8 p.m. 

DuPage Unitarian Universalist Church, 1828 Old Naperville Road, Naperville 

$25 general admission, $20 seniors (60 and above), $10 students (10 years and older)  

The Naperville Chamber Players, a string quartet, will play selections from the middle years of Mozart’s life.
