Holiday Walk

Come with family and meet up with friends to see the downtown come alive with twinkling lights, the sounds of Christmas and Santa lighting the Christmas Tree on Main Street. After the tree lighting, follow Santa to the Glen Ellyn Fire Station where children may tell him what they want for Christmas. Restaurants and stores will be open late. Look for the decorated storefront windows for this year’s theme, The Twelve Days of Christmas.

This College of DuPage Theater tradition returns to the MAC for its 16th season. A mean-spirited old man, a poor but optimistic clerk and three visiting ghosts join forces to take us on a magical journey and show us the true meaning of the holiday season. “How The Grinch Stole Christmas”

Everyone is invited to see this holiday movie. On the outskirts of Whoville, there lives a green, revenge-seeking Grinch who plans on ruining the Christmas holiday for all of the citizens of the town. Rejected by the Whos as a child and living in spiteful seclusion for most of his life, the Grinch has always hated the citizens of Whoville. That especially goes for Christmas with the Whos’ noise, phony sentiment and wasteful materialism. When little Cindy Lou Who’s attempt to transcend the festivities’ empty commercialism by inviting the Grinch ends with his public humiliation, the Grinch hatches upon on his supreme scheme to ruin the holidays.

Nov. 27 

Little Friends Holiday Parade of Lights 

6 p.m. 

Jackson Avenue at Mill Street, Naperville 

Free 

The annual parade marks the official arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus for the Christmas season. The parade will launch from Jackson Avenue at Mill Street, head east to north on Main Street and end at Main Street and Van Buren Avenue. The parade will travel through the heart of downtown under beautiful twinkling lights.

Chris Herren speaks 

York High School’s Campbell Gym, 355 St. Charles Road, Elmhurst 

7 p.m. 

Free 

Chris Herren is a former NBA player, who reached his dream of playing for the Boston Celtics only to lose it to addiction. He came from an affluent area, became addicted to prescription pain medication, which then led to a heroin addiction. He will speak about self-esteem, self-confidence and respecting yourself. His slogan is “Be a pro at being you.”
