JULY  21

 

PaJammin’ in July

1 p.m.

DuPage Children’s Museum, 301 N. Washington St. Naperville

Free with museum membership or $12 per person
Put on your best PJs, grab your favorite stuffed animal, forget to brush your hair (but don’t forget to brush your teeth), and join DuPage Children’s Museum for a PaJammin’ Party. Experience bedtime fun for the whole family as you explore the museum’s unique neighborhoods and enjoy fun games and activities. Some of the activities are slumber sing-a-long, pillow toss and stuffed animal parade. Youngsters can make a stuffed animal for an additional fee. All other activities are free.

 

Summer Concert

7-9 p.m.

Central Park Performing Arts Pavilion, 1500 Forest Gate Road, Oak Brook

Bring blankets, baskets and lawn chairs. The performers are The New Invaders, who play a ’60s rock review. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be moved into the Family Recreation Center gym. For weather updates, call the hotline at (630) 645-9553.

 

 

JULY  22

Elmhurst Cycling Classic

11:20 a.m.-9:30 p.m.

Wilder Park, 175 S. Prospect Ave., Elmhurst

Free

Be in Wilder Park to watch the excitement and high-speed action. Stand just feet away from the elbow-to-elbow action as the racers zoom by at speeds faster than 30 mph. Walk the course, visit neighbors, join a cookout. Also, at 6:10 p.m., families are invited to join a fun bike ride around the professional course of the Elmhurst Cycling Classic bike race. Bike riders can choose to decorate themselves or their bikes. Prizes for best-themed riders will be awarded at the finish line, after they ride the 1.2 mile course, the same course used by the pros around Elmhurst College.

 

Third Thursday Thinkers

2 p.m.

Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster St., Naperville

$12/adult, $10/senior (62+), $8/youth (4–12); free for Naperville residents (with ID) and Naper Settlement members 
Experience history through your senses as adults take their young thinkers – children, ages 5-7 – on a museum adventure. The theme of this month’s program is Growing Up Wild. Come explore the sensory garden, see firsthand the growth of plants and take home a lima bean experiment.

 

Vintage Rides Antique Car & Custom Motorcycle Show

It is Convertible Night at the next weekly summer car show. The family friendly event is hosted by the Downtown Wheaton Association. Enjoy music, cars and more.

 

 

Nature at Night Hike

8-9:30 p.m.

The Morton Arboretum, 4100 Illinois Route 53, Lisle

Discover what happens at the arboretum at night when no one is around. During the hike, participants will discuss night ecology, listen to a symphony of sounds, explore mysterious spaces and, hopefully, view wildlife on the move. Civil War Re-enactment

10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Four Seasons Park, Finley Road and 16th Street, Lombard

Free

This family friendly event will feature Confederate and Union soldiers recreating an 1863 military campsite, military drills and demonstrations, cannon fire, Civil War-era music and games and other activities.
