Students, community to celebrate homecoming week at College of DuPage

dupage-092116-cod-homecoming-photo-1College of DuPage will host its third annual Homecoming celebration when the Chaparrals take on the Ellsworth Panthers at 1 p.m.on Saturday, Oct. 1, at the Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.

Homecoming week activities will be held at the College from Sept. 26, through Sept. 30, as students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members can participate in various events and contests to promote COD pride.

The McAninch Arts Center and COD Foundation invite community members and alumni to campus for a concert/pep rally Sept. 30, at the Lakeside Pavilion with Chicago 6 Band, starring 1985 Bears Super Bowl chaps Dan Hampton, Otis Wilson and Steve McMichael.

Prior to the 7 p.m. show, guests are invited to a meet and greet with the Bears greats and a presentation by Chaparral head Coach Matt Foster. The event is free, with a $10 donation suggested per person. Proceeds benefit COD student scholarships.

Game day activities begin at 9:30 a.m. with a Bubble Soccer Tournament in the College’s Bjarne Ullsvik Stadium. A pre-game tailgate party with games, food and entertainment will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to welcome fans before the coin toss.

Unless otherwise posted, admission to all activities is free and students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members are invited to enjoy the festivities and cheer on the Chaparrals.
