A 30-year-old Aurora woman was killed this weekend after she was involved in an ATV crash in unincorporated Aurora Township.

According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called to the area of Terry Avenue and McDonald Avenue around 6:40 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 for reports of an ATV that had crashed into a vehicle.

An investigation revealed that Jacqueline Lowry, 1100 block of Ridgeway, Aurora, was driving a Polaris ATV westbound on McDonald Avenue when she failed to stop at a stop sign.

The ATV entered the intersection and struck the side of a Ford Explorer that was traveling west on Terry Avenue, according to deputies. The Explorer did not have a stop sign at the intersection.

Kane County Sheriff’s Deputy Patrick Gengler said at the time of the crash that it was undetermined whether or not Lowry was wearing a helmet when she struck the Explorer.

Lowry was transported to an Aurora hospital and then airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

At around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, deputies were notified by the DuPage County Coroner’s Office that Lowry has passed away.

The crash remains under investigation and Gengler said deputies have not determined whether or not drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.

The occupants of the Ford Explorer were not injured and have not been identified.

According to her obituary, Lowry has two children, Isaiah and Mia. She is a 2003 West Aurora High School graduate and was employed as an assembly manager at Caterpillar. She was also a member of the United Auto Workers Union.

Family said Lowry enjoyed camping, gardening, fishing, football and the outdoors. But, she especially loved spending time with her children.

She is survived by her children, her parents; Kenneth (Laura) Lowry and Vickie (Tom) Connor. Her grandparents; Ivy (Jack) Bishop, Marsha Lowry and Elsie Lowry and her 2nd dad; John Masek; and her favorite dog; Carolina Blue. Many aunts, nieces, nephews and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her brother Steven Carlson, and her 2 grandfathers; Wayne (Elsie) Lowry and Franklin D. Phillips.
