Bond has been set for a West Chicago man accused of sexually assaulting the two young daughters of an acquaintance of his. Obdulio Lopez-Gomez, 39, of Burr Oaks Drive, appeared in Bond Court this morning where Judge Richard Russo set bond at $1 million with 10% to apply.

In all, Lopez-Gomez has been charged with four counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault, a Class X Felony. If convicted on at least one count against each victim he faces a sentence of life in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

It is alleged that from February, 2013, through July, 2015, Lopez-Gomez sexually assaulted his victims on multiple occasions while he was at the victims’ home in West Chicago. The abuse came to light when the victims disclosed the behavior to a trusted adult who in turn contacted the West Chicago Police Department. The West Chicago Police Department then contacted the DuPage County Children’s Center.

“My office takes any allegations of sexual assault very seriously,” DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said. “My heart goes out to these two young victims as they attempt to come to terms with what Mr. Lopez-Gomez has allegedly done to them. I would like to thank the West Chicago Police Department for their efforts on this very disturbing case. I would like to thank the DuPage County Children’s Center, particularly Investigator Carmen Easton for her outstanding work.”

Lopez-Gomez, who is in the United States illegally, was taken into custody by the West Chicago Police Department. His arraignment is scheduled for August 24, 2015, in front of Judge Robert Kleeman.
