The Kane County Cougars received a worldwide boost in promoting their upcoming 25th silver anniversary season with a special message at the Crossroads of the World.

The Cougars were recently featured on the NASDAQ building in New York City’s Times Square with a special message promoting the 25th anniversary campaign.

The Cougars are believed to be the first team in Minor League Baseball history to be prominently featured on the famous MarketSite Tower that illuminates one of the most recognizable locations in the world.

Located at 43rd and Broadway, the high-tech electronic display is more than seven stories tall and wraps around the cylindrical NASDAQ building, providing up-to-the-minute financial news, market highlights, and advertisements.

The MarketSite Tower is featured in films, television programming, and news articles. This modern day icon illuminates Times Square 24 hours a day.

The Cougars, an affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, were the first Class-A Minor League Baseball team to reach 10 million fans in 2013 and were named Minor League Baseball’s “Team of the Year” in the 2014 MiLBY Awards.

Last season’s team-—then a Chicago Cubs affiliate—won the Midwest League championship while breaking numerous franchise records, including most wins in a single season with 91.

Last week, the Cougars achieved national headlines with the announcement of several of their new food and drink items, including the “Heart Attack Burger”, which was featured in USA Today, Yahoo!, SI and several other major news outlets.

The half-pound beef patty is topped with grilled onions, a fried egg, slice of melted cheddar cheese, chipotle bacon mayo, two strips of bacon with a pair of grilled cheese sandwiches serving as its bun.

LaRussa in Geneva—Tickets are now on sale for the Kane County Cougars’ “Out to the Ballgame II” event on May 13 featuring Tony LaRussa, the Arizona Diamondbacks chief baseball officer and baseball Hall of Famer.

LaRussa, onetime manager with both the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago White Sox, is part of a speakers program that includes Cougars owners Dr. Bob Froehlich and a question and answer segment.

Tickets are priced at $95 for the session, which includes a question-and-answer segment, buffet dinner and tickets to that night’s game against Burlington at 6:30 p.m.

Seating is extremely limited and fans can purchase tickets by calling (630) 232-8811 or ordering online at kccougars.com.

Additional guests of the Cougars that night include Minor League Baseball president Pat O’Conner along with Midwest League president Richard A. Nussbaum II.

The event, to be held inside the Cougars’ upper deck Super Suite, begins at 4 p.m.

LaRussa joined the D-backs franchise on May 17, 2014 and in his current role, he is responsible for all facets of the organization’s baseball operations.

The 2014 inductee into the National Baseball Hall of Fame was the first person in Major League history to hold the position of Chief Baseball Officer.
