More than 200 volunteers kicked off the holiday season earlier this month at Northern Illinois Food Bank’s West Suburban Center in Geneva, packing thousands of Holiday Meal Boxes for hungry neighbors.

The boxes include everything needed for a family to prepare a traditional turkey dinner. Over the course of the holiday season, community food pantries in Northern Illinois Food Bank’s network will help the food bank distribute 36,000 of these Holiday Meal Boxes so that families in need can prepare, enjoy and create memories around a holiday meal.

Every year in November families gather around the table to enjoy a feast of turkey, cranberries, stuffing and pumpkin pie.

However,  for the one in seven people in northern Illinois facing hunger a special holiday meal is out of reach. So before you give thanks this year, please give the gift of a holiday meal so that another family can celebrate together.

A gift of $30 provides a traditional holiday meal with turkey and all the trimmings for a family of 8. Help Northern Illinois Food Bank provide 35,000 Holiday Meal Boxes this year to neighbors in our community with a donation today.

All contributions are tax-deductible. Click here to make a gift online. To make a gift by mail, send your check made out to Northern Illinois Food Bank to 273 Dearborn Court, Geneva, IL  60134.  To make a gift by phone, call (630) 443-6910.
