Allen Skillicorn of East Dundee was clinging to less than a 200-vote lead Wednesday morning in the four-way battle to be the Republican nominee for the 66th District state House seat.

Skillicorn, a marketing director and two-term East Dundee trustee, had seen his lead tighten from more than 300 votes overnight.

Ten McHenry County precincts were still not counted as of 8 a.m. Wednesday. As of 8 a.m. Wednesday, Skillicorn had 3,962 votes to 3,796 votes for Carolyn Schofield of Crystal Lake, a McHenry County Board member and former Crystal Lake trustee.

McHenry County prosecutor and West Dundee trustee Dan Wilbrandt was third with 3,074 votes. Paul Serwata of Lakewood, a journeyman carpenter and Lakewood trustee, was a distant fourth with 1,403 votes.

Polls in McHenry County were ordered to stay open until 8:30 p.m. Tuesday because of voting issues throughout the day at various polling places.
