Former Kendall teacher named director of Fox Valley Rep

Patrick Stinson, a former educator in Oswego and Plano schools, has been named the managing director of the Fox Valley Rep in residence at Pheasant Run Resort, according to reports. Stinson, who has directed several productions at Fox Valley Rep, is now the second managing director of the 11-year-old company. Stinson has more than 20 years of experience working the in the theater and holds degrees from Millikin University and North Central College. He also is a past president and current vice president of Fox Country Players, a community theatre out of Yorkville.

 

Sheriff’s office debuts auxiliary mounted patrol unit

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office now has an auxiliary mounted patrol unit of three deputies and their horses that can patrol parks, community events and neighborhoods and help with missing persons cases, according to the sheriff’s office. The unit also will work in conjunction with the Kendall County Emergency Management Agency. Volunteers are providing the horses, stable and horse care, according to the sheriff’s office. The three officers on the united are Auxiliary Deputy Cindy Benson, Auxiliary Deputy Terry Benson and Part-Time Deputy Cherese Spears. Collectively, the three deputies have 97 years of riding experience.

 

Help needed in solving recent campsite burglaries

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information about burglaries of several campers at Hide-A-Way Lakes Campground, 8045 Van Emmon Road, in Yorkville. The incidents were reported on July 7 but the sheriff’s office believes the actual burglaries took place between July 5 and 7. Electronic items were taken, according to the sheriff’s office. Anyone with information on this or other crimes is urged to call Kendall County Crime Stoppers at (630) 553-5999. Callers remain anonymous (do not leave your name) and are eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the offenders.

 

Montgomery

Village president to visit with residents over coffee

Montgomery Village President Matt Brolley will host a “Mayor on the Move” from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1 at the pavilion in Montgomery Park on River Street, north of Mill Street. Brolley will be there to have informal discussions with residents on issues and concerns and answer questions, according the village. Coffee and light refreshments will be available. New features coming to annual Montgomery Festival

The 31st annual Montgomery Festival will be held Friday through Sunday, Aug. 7-9 on North River Street along the banks of the Fox River. Highlights of the festival will include musical performances, carnival rides, a wide range of food vendors, free pony rides and petting zoo, a car show and a parade, according to the village’s website, www.ci.montgomery.il.us. New features this year include carp fishing derby and a talent show. In addition, the village is partnering with the Montgomery Foundation to offer a Goose Island craft beer tent, according to the village. All proceeds from the beer tent will benefit the Montgomery Foundation, a not-for-profit group that supports programs of education and community service, according to the village.

 

Oswego

Village resurfacing neighborhood streets

Oswego residents need to be aware of some street resurfacing that will be happening around the village for the next few weeks, according to the village. All work is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 15, weather permitting. The village wants to remind residents that during the construction, there will be large equipment and trucks neighborhoods. Extra caution in these areas is advised as visibility for crews at times may be hampered, according to the village. Village increasing local sales tax rate

Shoppers in Oswego will be paying a bit more in sale taxes following recent action by the Village Board. The board on July 7 voted to increase the rate to 1.25 percent. The prior tax rate was .50 percent. Village officials say the increase will raise more than $2.8 million in additional annual revenue for the village, according to reports. That additional funding has been tagged for capital improvements, specifically for road maintenance and maintenance of police facilities and services, according to the reports.

 

Yorkville

Several local streets slated for resurfacing

The city is embarking on a summer street improvement project from now through the end of August. D Construction Co, Inc. will begin the milling and resurfacing of several streets, and crack sealing operations will be performed within the Heartland, Prairie Meadows and Bristol Bay developments, according to the city.
