Police conduct rapid response training

In an effort to advance countywide law enforcement agency unity and increase the effectiveness of emergency tactical law enforcement response, members from the Oswego Police Department and Kendall County Sheriff’s Office conducted training earlier this month at a local school on rapid deployment.

Rapid deployment training prepares police officers and first responders to deal with potentially violent situations and subjects actively engaged in acts of violence.

Several certified instructors from both departments and the Oswego Fire Protection District simulated scenarios officers may encounter during an active threat of violence, including techniques on building entry, locating and neutralizing an active threat along with tactical casualty care and wound treatment.

Both departments would like to thank Community Unit School District 308 for their cooperation and assistance during this training effort. Education, planning and training can make a difference towards the prevention of potential violence. The Oswego Police Department and Kendall County Sheriff’s Office will continue to work together to improve community safety and strengthen relationships among all law enforcement entities.
