Kendall County Deputies said social media tips from residents led to the recent arrest of a Carpentersville man wanted in connection with the armed robbery of the Oswego Food Mart.
On Monday, deputies were assisted by the U.S. Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force in arresting Timothy Wisnauski.
Wisnauski, 36, was located in Peoria, Ariz., and charged with armed robbery.

The charges stem from the April 23 hold-up of the Oswego Food Mart, 100 block of Light Road in Unincorporated Oswego, according to Kendall County Deputy Mike Mrozek.

Around 1:30 p.m. on that day, a man entered the store with a handgun, pointed the weapon at employees, and made off with cash, according to Kendall County deputies. No one was injured during the event.
Soon into their investigation, deputies located a clear photo of the robbery suspect that had been captured on surveillance video. The photo was quickly shared by deputies on Facebook and garnered lots of public interest.
Within a day, investigators received numerous tips on the Kendall County Crime Stoppers line regarding the incident, as well as a credible tip leading them to Wisnauski. He was charged on April 27 and taken into custody in Arizona on May 2.
“The arrest of this dangerous subject was made possible by the use of social media, the public’s willingness to get involved and the combined efforts of several law enforcement agencies,” said Kendall County Sheriff Dwight Baird. “I want to thank the public for their partnership and getting involved to help keep our community safe. This lets criminals know we work together and no matter how far you go, we will track you down.”
Kendall Deputies began utilizing the help of the U.S. Marshals Task Force in January of this year to help track down suspects on the run. Since then, several fugitives have been taken into custody as a result of the joined efforts.
Baird has praised the partnership for its success.
“Oftentimes the most violent of offenders are the most likely to flee apprehension,” he said. “By participating in this task force, we have the ability to utilize the task force in its entirety, ensuring violent and dangerous offenders are taken off the streets of Kendall County quickly, and safely.”

Mrozek said he encourages all business owners to spend some extra cash on surveillance equipment, which helped lead to the quick capture of Wisnauski.

“It really helps,” he said.
