Car crashes claimed the lives of two people in Kendall County on Aug. 24.

Shuging Hu, of Naperville, was killed near Yorkville, at Route 71 near Budd Road around 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 24. Hu, 75, was the passenger in a vehicle that was attempting to pass around another vehicle on Route 71 when it struck a northbound vehicle head-on. Hu was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Kendall County Coroner.

The drivers of both vehicles were taken to hospitals for their injuries, according to reports.

In another fatal accident later in the day, a man from Chicago was killed and six others injured when two vehicles crashed into each other around 5:30 p.m. in the southwest Fox Township.

The accident happened at Millington and Rodgers roads, according to reports. Devon Peden, 25 was pronounced dead at the while five others were taken to area hospitals for their injuries, according to reports.

The intersection was closed for several hours for the investigation at the scene.
