Buffalo Grove

Police Dept. earns reaccreditation status from CALEA

The Buffalo Grove Police Department recently earned its eighth reaccreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement (CALEA). CALEA encourages law enforcement agencies to adhere to strict best practices, guidelines and procedures. These include safety initiatives, crime prevention, the establishment of fair and non-discriminatory personnel practices, and consistent efforts toward building community confidence in local police departments. During CALEA assessments, law enforcement agencies present “proofs of compliance,” which demonstrate nearly 500 standards that must be maintained. Examples include reports, tickets and physical items located on-site at the department. Maintaining an accredited status acknowledges the quality of service the police department provides for the Buffalo Grove community. The Buffalo Grove Police Department reaccreditation will remain valid through April 2020.
