Baker receives international Chief Fire Officer re-designation

The village reported that Buffalo Grove Fire Chief Mike Baker received re-designation as an international Chief Fire Officer (CFO) from the Commission on Professional Credentialing, on May 10. The CFO designation program is designed to recognize individuals who demonstrate excellence in seven measured components: experience, professional development, professional contributions, active association membership and community involvement. Baker, one of only 1,146 Chief Fire Officers worldwide, received his original CFO designation in June 2013. To maintain his status, Baker was required to show continued development as a CFO in four areas: Professional development, professional contributions, active association membership and community involvement. Highland Park

Proposed sidewalk topic of Open House event

As part of the BikeWalk HP2030 Plan to enhance pedestrian connectivity, the city will host an Open House from 6-7 p.m. July 19 at City Hall, 1707 St. Johns Ave. in an effort to seek public comment regarding the installation of new sidewalk on Sheridan Road, from Roger Williams Avenue on the south to the Rosewood Beach entrance on the north. Proposed improvements include construction of a new five-foot-wide concrete sidewalk along the east side of Sheridan Road. Due to uneven terrain on the east side, the sidewalk installation will impact existing landscape along the public right-of-way. Plans of the proposed sidewalk will be available, and the city encourages attendees to provide project feedback. For more information, call 847-432-0800 or visit www.cityhpil.com.
