Antiques Evaluations Offered at Historical Society Show Nov. 13

EUREKA – The Woodford County Historical Society meeting of November 13 will feature a program modeled after the ever-popular “Antiques Road Show.” Jeanne Brennan of Metamora and her parents, Marvin and Pat Eckhoff from Benson, will evaluate antiques brought to the meeting by members and guests. Each person in attendance can bring two items to be evaluated. The meeting will be from 7 to 9 P.M. at the community room of Snyder Village on the east side of Metamora on Route 116. The meeting is open to everyone and there is no admission charge. Refreshments will be provided by Shirley Adams and Karen Fyke.

Mrs. Brennan has been interested in antiques for 25 years or so. She and her husband operated an antique business in Arizona for a time, and Jeanne now has a shop in the Illinois Antique Center in Peoria. Jeanne is interested in lamps, buttons and vintage clothing and linens. Marvin and Pat Eckhoff are most interested in toys, art pottery, glassware and silverware, but they have a wide knowledge about most areas of antique collecting. The trio will do their best to provide an idea of the value of the objects brought to the meeting.
The Woodford County Historical Society is an active presence in the County, providing services and programs that encourage an interest in the history of our area and its people. All of its meetings are open to the public, and no entry fee is ever charged. Membership in the Society is open to all.
The Society maintains a Research Room and mini-museum across from the Court House in Eureka at 112 N. Main. Volunteers open the room’s resources to the public from 1 to 4 PM on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Genealogical research can be conducted by volunteer genealogists at minimal cost, or the staff will assist visitors in finding historical data about their ancestors.
