Aurora's 'Festival of Lights' kicks off Nov. 28

AURORA – One of the largest outdoor holiday light displays in Chicagoland—a mile of Santa, reindeer, candy canes, Old Man Winter, hundreds of lighted trees and more—will delight carloads of families from Nov. 28 through Dec. 28 at Aurora's Phillips Park.
The Rotary Club of Aurora, in partnership with the City of Aurora, presents the massive “Aurora Festival of Lights” event to raise money for charity.
The Festival, which features animated light displays, will shine nightly on Sunday through Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m.; and on Friday and Saturday from 5 to 10 pm.
Admission to the event is free. The Rotary Club of Aurora will accept donations at the exit of the event with 100 percent of proceeds benefiting charity.
“This event is for children of all ages.” said Kathy Tollaksen, Rotary Club of Aurora President. “Our goal is to spread cheer to thousands of visitors during the holidays, while providing support to needy charities. This event is a win-win for all involved.”
The majority of Festival costs are underwritten through corporate and local government sponsorships.
“This event would not be possible without the generosity of our corporate sponsors,” said Tollaksen. “Their sponsorships allow us to utilize donation dollars received at the event to provide support to many charitable programs, while spreading Holiday spirit throughout the community. After all, who doesn’t enjoy holiday lights?”
Event organizers expect over 50,000 people to visit the Festival over the course of the 4-week event.
