Eureka College Showing of â??White Christmasâ?? to Benefit Operation Santa

EUREKA – Students in a Eureka College senior seminar course studying Hollywood and World War II have chosen a service project that will benefit U.S. troops. The class, led by theater professor Holly Rocke, will show the 1954 film “White Christmas” at 7:30 PM. Nov. 13, in the Cerf Center. Admission will be by donation to Operation Santa, which provides Christmas stockings to troops serving overseas. A raffle and snacks also will be offered. “Operation Santa was selected as our class service project in part because it relates to the theme of the class but also to support our U.S. servicemen and women who are so far away from home this holiday season,” said student John Isom of Coon Rapids, Minn. The money raised from the film showing will be directed toward shipping the stockings, Isom said.
The class will stuff stockings on Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Operation Santa headquarters in Peoria.
