The Rev. Timothy Williams, a minister in McHenry County, is in jail after being arrested and charged with possessing child pornography, according to reports.

Williams, 50, was arrested Aug. 21 at his home in the 500 block of Brookdale Road, Woodstock, and charged with six counts of possession of child pornography, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

He was being held at McHenry County Jail on $100,000 bond.

Williams had been a minister at the Heritage Baptist Church in Greenwood, up until sheriff’s police on a warrant searched his home in July.

During the search, electronic sheriff’s police took electronic evidence from Williams’ home, which contained images of child pornography, online messages referencing child porn and other deviant sexuality, according to the sheriff’s department.

The arrest was the culmination of an eight-month investigation that began in January by the McHenry Sheriff’s Office and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, according to the sheriff’s department.

Further investigation will continue and anyone having information regarding Williams is encouraged to contact the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department at (815) 334-4750
