Conservation Dist. gets nod to update trail

A McHenry County Conservation report stated that the Conservation District and Nunda Township Road District were given authority by a duly appointed Administrative Law Judge in the Illinois Commerce Commission to construct a multi-use path on the west side of Oak Street in Crystal Lake. In addition, Union Pacific Railroad Company will expand and improve its existing crossing to accommodate the new trail crossing. Currently, the trail dead-ends and loops back at Oak Street, creating a gap in the eastbound and westbound sections. Once completed, the Ridgefield Trace multi-use path will run 7.7 miles from Woodstock to Crystal Lake. Construction is anticipated to begin this fall, and the anticipated deadline for completion of the project is Dec. 31. For more information, call (815) 338-6223 or visit www.mccdistrict.org.
