Village Board proposes reduction in tax levy

The resulting revenue is an increase of approximately 2 percent over the tax extended for the village by the County Clerk in 2016. The Village Board will consider adoption of the resolution during its regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. Dec. 12 at Village Hall, 3125 Barreville Road. A formal public hearing is not required, but the Village Board will listen to any and all public comments regarding the tax levy during the meeting. Residents are encouraged to attend. Community High School District 155 reported that a donation of $2,500 from Mike Pauly, owner of Pauly Toyota, will benefit students in Crystal Lake South High School’s Virtual Enterprises International (VEI) program. VEI gives students hands-on business experience in writing a business plan, creating a product line and website and executing sales with 500 high schools that also have a VEI program. Students in the program compete at trade fairs and competitions throughout the year. The donation also will pay for the creation of marketing materials, including banners, brochures and business cards. In addition to his donation, Pauly will be affiliated with the program, assisting with mock interviews and serving as a potential customer during the sales pitch.
