The 33rd annual Children’s Christmas Party for Unemployed Families is at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12 at Bloomington High School, 1501 E. Locust St.

The annual event is co-sponsored by the Bloomington & Normal Trades & Labor Assembly (AFL-CIO), the McLean County Chamber of Commerce and United Way McLean County.

The party is for families who are unemployed or underemployed.  More than 350 children are registered for the event.  The event begins in the cafeteria with party games, arts and crafts activities, electric trains, costumed characters and other activities for the children.

Illinois State University student athletes assist in these games and aid the children.

At 11 a.m. the event moves to the Bloomington High Auditorium, where the Bloomington High School choir will lead a sing-a-long, followed by a visit from Santa. Every child receives a toy and a grab-bag of candy and fruit.
