McLean County Fourth of July celebrations

Events will be held throughout McLean County in honor of July 4, the day Americans set aside each year to celebrate patriotism and freedom.
The federal holiday marks the country’s official separation from Britain in 1776, under the provision of the Declaration of Independence however, the Fourth of July is now celebrated with fireworks, family gatherings, barbecues, ceremonies, festivals and parades.

Bloomington
4th of July in Miller Park
Location:
Miller Park

Bring your blanket, radio and the family for the annual Sky Concert in Miller Park. Fireworks begin at approximately 9:15 pm (depending on weather and circumstances it could be 15 minutes earlier or later) and will be set to music on WJBC AM 1230. Join us before the fireworks for the Celebrate America production at 7:00 pm.
Other Miller Park Fun on the 4th
Miller Park Zoo – open until 6:00 pm; grounds cleared at 7:00 pm.
Miniature Golf – open from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm.
MIller Park Boats – open from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
The sprayground – open from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm.
Chenoa
Location: Uptown Chenoa
July 3: 4th of July Celebration Street Dance – Come to uptown Chenoa July 3, 2015 for the 4th of July Celebration Street Dance. There will be a beer wagon and the 4th of July committee will be selling pork chop sandwiches.
July 4: 4th of July Parade starts at 2:00 p.m. Chenoa United Methodist Church will host a food stand on the 4th of July from 10:30 – 1:00 p.m. at 204 South Division Street, Chenoa; across from the City Park. Back by popular demand! Come and enjoy fresh homemade pies, lemonade shakeups, barbeque, hot dogs and pork chop sandwiches. Funds support the mission of the Church. The city fireworks display will take place at dusk.
Downs
4th of July Events – Below are a few highlighted events happening in Downs:
- 7:00-10:00 a.m. there will be a Fireman’s Breakfast at the Down Fire Department
- 11:00 a.m. food vendors start at Dooley Park
- 12:00 p.m. the “Sweet Land of Liberty” parade kicks off in the village
- 1:30 p.m. parade float contest winners are announced at Dooley Park Pavilion
- 1:00-8:00 p.m. inflatables and a dunk tank in Dooley Park
- 2:00 p.m. Watermelon eating contest in Dooley Park Pavilion
- 2:00 p.m. Water balloon fights start at Dooley Park Basketball Court
- 9:30 p.m. fireworks display in Dooley Park and on television
Lake Bloomington
4th of July events
- Lake Bloomington Boat Parade and Ranney Cup: Boats will assemble near the Davis Lodge at 3:00 p.m. The parade marshal will lead boats through the traditional route. The parade judges will be following so be sure to finish the route.
- The lake’s fireworks display will start just after dusk, around 9:00 p.m.
