All Metro East-area public school districts will see increases in state funding under the new Senate Bill 1 school funding reform law, according to data compiled by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).

Gov. Bruce Rauner signed the funding reform legislation Aug. 31. District 48 Illinois State Senator Andy Manar (D-Bunker Hill) was a primary architect of the funding reform package.

Under the legislation, Metro East school districts, during the 2017-18 academic year, will see state funding increases ranging from more than $1.9 million to just $98, according to the ISBE.

SB 1 establishes a formula for determining the total cost of providing an adequate education for the students enrolled in each district and then provides state subsidies for districts that cannot meet those costs through locally generated revenues.
