Responding to a missing person report filed last month, led the Peoria County Sheriff’s office to assist Wisconsin authorities on what became a murder investigation.   121615

The office on Nov.30 received a call that Douglas L. Bailey, 51, of 1373 Ash St., Prescott Wis.,was supposed to meet family in the Peoria area for Thanksgiving on Nov. 26 but never arrived.  Sheriff’s officers discovered  he may have been dropped off in Peoria County by his  girlfriend, Rose M. Keuhni, 44,  also of 1373 Ash St., Prescott, Wis.

The Peoria County Sheriff’s Investigative Division, along with the Peoria County Search and Rescue Team, searched extensively in a rural area in the county on Dec. 2-5 with no signs or evidence that Bailey was in the area, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.

Then on Dec. 7, Peoria County sheriff’s detectives  travelled to Prescott for further investigation into the disappearance of Bailey. They joined efforts with investigators in the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office in Wisconsin.

Their investigation and interviews led to the arrest of Keuhni, who is now charged with second degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse in Pierce County, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.

Through further investigation it was revealed that Bailey was murdered in Prescott and transported to Bell County, Ky.,where his body was recovered on a rural road in a box, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.

After it was determined that Bailey was killed in Pierce County, and that Bailey’s body was not in Peoria County, the  Peoria County Sheriff’s Office relinquished the investigation to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.
