Peoria County Board member Dr. Adamson dies

Dr. Gregory Adamson, Peoria County Board Member for District 11, passed away at 2:08 a.m. on June 11, according to the Peoria County Coroner.

Peoria County will hold a Memorial Service today, June 13, at 5:30 p.m. for  Adamson around the Courthouse Plaza Fountain (near the war memorials). Pastor Chuck Brown will lead the service.

A majority of Peoria County Board Members may be in attendance, but no County business will be conducted.

Adamson was elected in 2016 and sworn into office on Dec. 5. He served on the County Operations Committee and the Infrastructure Committee.

“Please keep Dr. Adamson’s family in your prayers. The shock of this most unexpected passing hasn’t quite set in with most of us,” stated Board Chairman Andrew A. Rand. “As a colleague, Greg worked hard to learn the job and the diverse subject matter. He will be missed by all of us.”

Adamson is survived by his wife, Michelle of Peoria and their four children, Hannah Adamson of Sioux City, Iowa, and Clayton, Lily and Sarah Adamson, all of Peoria; his father and one brother and a sister.

He was also a member of the J.W. Littler Hand Society, Fellow, American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Peoria Medical Society, Illinois State Medical Society Trustee and the American Medical Association. Dr. Adamson was published in the Journal of Arthroplasty in 1996, and was a presenter at the Western Orthopedic Association Conference.

A visitation will be held Friday, June 14 at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria and funeral services will be Saturday, June 15, 2019 with burial at Historic Springdale Cemetery in Peoria.
