Fire officials are looking into the cause of an explosion that destroyed a home in Caseyville, located in rural St. Clair County on Saturday, July 25.

Four dogs were reportedly killed in the blast that leveled the two-story home, but there were no reports of people being injured.

The explosion happened around 6:30 p.m. and was apparently caused by natural gas, according to the chief of the Hollywood Heights fire department, which responded to the call along with the Caseyville and State Park fire departments.

Caseyville is about 10 miles from  St. Louis, Mo.

Crews from Ameren Illinois gas company were on the scene investigating over the weekend, according to reports, and the State Fire Marshal is expected to inspect the damage home on Monday.
