Dr. Jeff Hill

Morton Community Unit School District 709’s Board of Education has voted unanimously to hire Dr. Jeff Hill as the new superintendent, starting July 1.

He will replace Dr. Lindsey Hall, who was hired as superintendent of the Mahomet-Seymour School District.

Hill is currently the superintendent of the Illinois State University Lab Schools. A special meeting was held at Morton CUSD #709 administration building late last month to hire Hill

Before accepting the superintendent position with the Morton School District, Hill has served in several leadership positions. He started at Hinsdale Central High School where he served as special education instructor, a basketball, track, and cross country coach  and an assistant dean of schools.

Hill later became principal at Tremont High School, which led him to become the head of schools at Clarksville Academy in Clarksville, Tenn. and then to serve as the principal at Olympia High School.

Now, at the Illinois State University Laboratory Schools, Hill has served in various positions. He was the principal at University High School, the budget director for the Heart of Illinois Low Incidence Association (HILIA), and, the superintendent of University High School and the Thomas Metcalf School.

In addition to his leadership experiences, Hill began his educational career at Illinois State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He then obtained approval to teach in Special and Gifted Education from National Louis University and Governor’s State University before achieving a Master’s of Education in Educational Leadership from National Louis University. Dr. Hill continued his education at Illinois State University by obtaining his Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership.

“I look forward to incorporating my breadth of experiences into Morton’s culture of success and elevating Morton schools and students into the next levels of achievement,” Hill said. “I am excited about working in Morton District 709, and rejoining a community that Kelli (his wife) and I have called home earlier in my career. I look forward to the tremendous opportunities that lie ahead and look forward to working with the people of Morton to improve learning opportunities for our students.”
