A soapbox derby will be held on Saturday, July 25, as part of the Morton BBQ Throw Down at the corner of 1st Avenue and Penn Street. All children ages kindergarten through eighth grade are welcome to participate. Registration begins at 5 p.m. and the racing starts at 5:30 p.m. There is no cost to participate.

Children and their parents can build their own soap box derby vehicles (details are available online at various web sites or at www.mortonmagnet.com). Extra vehicles are available at the event for children who do not have their own.

Children are not allowed to race without a helmet. Trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in two different age groups plus a “best of show” vehicle.
